What? You’ve never streaked? I’m talking about running, and there is actually a group of people that have done this every day for a year or more. The official definition of a running streak, as adopted by the United States Running Streak Association, is to run at least one continuous mile within each calendar day under one’s own body power.
It’s not easy. I’m on my third “streak” attempt of 2010. The first attempt was a simple goal of running every day in May. I did it. In September, I thought it might be fun to take a shot at 100 or maybe even 365 days. Unfortunately the flu stopped me at 41 days. I’m still a little disappointed about that. I’ve been streaking again. It’s not always a long distance, you’ll see a few 1 mile runs on the bar chart. And I’ve been using haiku to describe each run. So it has really become a funstreak. The plan? I’ll run every day until it’s no longer fun.

I seriously need to be more consistent with my running. The changes that have been going on here at work and home have been really tough. At least I’m biking most days, though.
Thanks, Annalisa. I haven’t had a day yet that I regretted going out for at least a one mile run. Today, however, poses a challenge — a foot or more of snow… trying to find a plowed road by midnight!
You streakin’ has been motivation to me! The one-mile days of you and other streakers (@TheBeerRunner) have reminded me never to take the “fun factor” out of running as running is pure pleasure and nothing clears the mind more. Also, your streakin’ continues with distance. A great mix. Throw in the mix families and careers, and the Streakin’ becomes even more motivational to me. The coolest people I know are Streakers. I feel badly for those who have not Streaked. We should all live a little, and go streakin’ more.
